Activities for the Calendar

Are you still short of activities for the Advent Calendar? How to decide what to do? Well, the first thing would be to see what we want to achieve with the Advent Calendar and then see what is available in your town.

Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas. Religious people could focus their activities in this regard. It also is a fun time, and is the ideal time to do activities that you can only do at Christmas.

My calendar is intended to educate my children and entertain them at the same time. I want to teach them the true meaning of Christmas, so among my activities I included buying and wrapping toys for poor children, choose which toys they want to donate, read the story of the birth of Jesus, and bake a birthday cake for Jesus.

Among the fun activities that also help them develop skills, I included: making cookies (we made on Saturday and they were delicious!), Make cards for grandparents; make bows for the tree and Christmas coloring pages (which include nativity scenes).

Just for fun activities include going to see performances of carols, go see lights and decorations in the malls.

Get ready for the last month of the year

Panamanians celebrate the most important holidays on the last two months of the year: the national holidays in November and in December Mother’s Day and Christmas and of course prepare for the last day of the year. This activity involves a great shopping, travel, parades and everything that bring national holidays, which often prevent us from thinking about what is coming in December.

There is still time to organize your activities for the last month of the year and avoid traffic congestion, the large number of people in the stores and see that what you want have already finished or have high prices.

Start by making your gift list for December: Mother’s Day and Christmas. Try shopping at the weekends left before December arrives and, if you can, get out to the stores during the week when fewer people are buying. To this list, add the items you want to buy to decorate your house, the clothes you and your family will use. You can even make a schedule to deliver your gifts.

Not least, between one activity and another, you can even organize your Christmas food and the end of the year. Make a menu, decide if you will divide the work among the family or if you are ordering food at a restaurant. With that done, when the first of December arrives calmly breathe because everything is under control.

Organize your garage

In most houses, the owners complain of lack of space to storage all the things we eventually accumulate. Often we do not realize that with a little effort we can make better use of the space we have available. Perhaps the most untapped place is the garage of the house, whether it is an open or a closed place. There you can place tools and unused things that do not fit within the house.

If you want to maximize space and make it look neat, there are simple things you can do. If you’ve already started putting things in that space, take them out to give a comprehensive cleaning including floors, walls and ceiling, throw away what you do not want, and then begin to sort what’s left. Before undertaking this task, enter your car in the garage to see how much free space you have left.

Classify what you’re going to save and according to its use. Install rails or strips and then if your garage is open, you can buy shelves. Purchase transparent boxes to store and tag them to find the items easily in the future. Use the same approach to gardening tools and artifacts.
